| The Mountain Goats – Heel Turn 2 Lyrics | 10 years ago |
|
In wrestling, a heel turn is a moment when a wrestler goes from being a hero to being a villain. This song is about that moment in the career of this unnamed wrestler. He's been the "good guy" throughout his career, but he notices that the "bad guys" get more fame and victories (but I tried / the losing side) so he becomes one of them. He completely leaves his good guy persona behind (throw my better self overboard / shoot at him when he comes up for air). This action has consequence, however. His fans, the fans who once loved him, are now disappointed that he's changed (president of the fan club up there/ choking on his tears) and he gets treated like a bad guy by the audience (Let all the trash rain down / from way up in the rafters), but he doesn't care anymore. |

| Weezer – I've Had It Up to Here Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| This song relates to Weezer's past three albums, where they have changed their sound to try to get more appeal with non-Weezer fans. The music became mass-produced, and now Rivers is done. He realizes that he doesn't need the approval of the faceless masses who have ended up listening to this mass-produced music. He realizes this because the people who had been Weezer fans from the beginning have stopped listening to his music since it became what it was. | |
| Cage the Elephant – Come a Little Closer Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think this song is about his relationship with God. The first verse talks about "found you at the water" which could signify a baptism. "At first you were my father/ but now I love you like a brother" could mean that he acknowledged the existence of God, but then something happened that truly brought him close to God. The choruses could be God talking to him, telling him to look more closely at the beauty of life and the world, and that even if things look bad there can still be good within them. | |
