It's about a relationship of a musician. She knew that this meant he would be around and on tour and not at home ("she knew the game"). He's about to go on tour ("you go your way") so the relationship is over. On Tour he wants her with him and neither booze nor drugs of sympathies help him get over her. So he calls her ("long distance lips") and cannot wait to see her again. |

The song is about a guy in a mental institution. " One of us is crazy and the other on's insane" indicates he may be schizophrenic. he also states, that someone has locked the door on his cold white room. In the final verse he seems to be sadated so he can't move his legs and being put into a straight jacket (" really like this jacket but the sleeves are much too long") |
