| Tori Amos – 16 Shades of Blue Lyrics | 8 years ago |

This song, as most of Tori's songs do, sparked my interest, but in a different way at first. What I like to do is just pull up her lyric and kind of try to figure them out before looking into the true, hidden meanings that we all know they have. Anyhoo, the first 11 lines of the song made me think of, of course, a romantic relationship ending. I was going through something at the time that seemed to resemble that. Simple, I know. Then the next lines made me realize that Tori was focusing on age. And I looked up "Cezanne" and found out that Tori enjoys looking at art, and read that she became interested in him as she looked througha book. Anyway, one of his paintings was something called "The Black Clock" and also he was said, or said himself (not sure) to have at least 16 shades of blue. Thus, Tori is even more amazing to me than she was even a few moments ago before I studied this. She mixed antique art with us, in a sense, "becoming" antique, and she did it with such flare. Saying that "the clock is black" says so many things, as black absorbs all the color and no color can really escape it once it's there. I personally remember coming into realizing my age and how I was aging and how time was not my master, that I was the breeze of time's "leaf," if you will. So I can really connect with the song. I am anxious to see more comments on this song. I "think" that this is the first one I've ever commented on. Always a bit nervous to comment because there seem to be many smart people on here, and I just feel a bit less likely than all of you to make sense. But here was my two penny's worth on this one. Thank for letting me participate and for reading my comment (if anyone did, wink wink) -Cej7 ^^ |
