Matthew Good Band – The Inescapable Us Lyrics 12 years ago
This song is truly haunting as well as beautiful. It is clearly about how a relationship...even one that turns out to be a bad one ...can be the basis of what one judges and evaluates everything else in life. The line "the day we met up, it's hard to get up, and live it down" speaks about how much it can scar a life when someone out and out betrays another whom they supposedly love. It also asks the question "is everyone replaceable?". Another great line is "It makes me sick,
It makes me laugh when I shouldn't....Kill what I came to keep alive". I think here Matthew is talking about how even though you know it's in your best interest to leave it in the past...you just can't...and you guess you may never be able to.

There is a great video floating around on Youtube with the use of imagery that evokes the thought of how all relationships evolve (we are better butterflies - all meek we get the end) and end up being something totally different than what it started out as .

Fantastic song
