This song is quite painful to listen to...usually always makes my eyes water. I always imagined she found out about him with someone else and he claims he regrets his decision, but that doesn't change how much it hurts her. She is angry with him, asking "Did she make your heart beat faster than I could?". She is hoping he feels awful for what he did and thinking this girl must have given him something that was missing from their relationship if he felt he needed to look elsewhere for affection. She is also showing anger towards the girl when she sings "Take your hands off him 'cause he's the only one that I have ever loved", almost as if how dare this girl step in and shatter her emotions like this. She loved him and it seems like the other girl may have been a careless fling, which isn't fair to the one who actually fell for him. For me, this song hits very personally. Maybe I am reading into it, based off my own experience with a guy, but that's what I got from it. |

This song hits me so hard. It reminds me of a situation in a casual sex relationship I had where I was nothing more to this boy than "Company under covers". He never cared about me, but I saw what I wanted to see until I saw him making out with someone else and he didn't understand for a second why I was so upset. "We learn from the times that we are cursed". I knew that we would never be "lovers", but I got attached and let myself get hurt. He told me I could get as emotionally attached as I wanted and that he didn't mind if I did, he just wouldn't. Those words still burn me. I remember playing this song in my car and crying my eyes out, feeling so dumb for allowing myself to go through that. |
