«There was Christ in the metal shell there was blood on the pavement » In the whole album «Holywood» Christ is in refference to J.F Kennedy and its death compare with the jesus crucifiction. «The metal shell» reffers to the limousine and the «blood on the pavement» about his death (gunshot in the head) «The camera will make you god that's how Jack became sainted » This idea reffers to whats comming next about the camera that would make you know if you're killed on it. «If you die when there's no one watching then your ratings drop and you're forgotten but if they kill you on their TV you're a martyr and a lamb of god nothing's going to change nothing's going to change the world » If you get killed and no ones see's it then nobody's gonna react to your death. But if you get killed while you're on T.V then you're gonna be a martyr like J.F Kennedy. This is about to proof the stupidity of the idea that to became famous you have to do something incredible on T.V and if you want to get know forever than you have to get kill on T.V. This is an idea that manson has particulary express in this album in reaction to the gunshooting of columbine. To me this is more like something that we have to visually imagine. I tipically see a man with mickey mouse hears on a podium with the stilized marilyn manson logo "nazi-dead-head-mickey-mouse". There is an old "camera-sound" in backgroud that would make me think about a camera displaying imagery of nazi propaganta, movies, "degenerate" arts showing, and stuff like that. This is the introduction of the golden age of grotesque so all the elements of the album must be in a way find into it to introduce us into it. I really like that track because it is powerfull, scary and grotesque at the same time so really perfect. This song is objectively placed in the mind of Mengele but can be noway racist for many reasons. If they were they would have like people to understand their real message. So no it isn't racist and Slayer have absolutely no reason for wanting the comming back of nazism because of its fascist anti expressionist pagan-catholic base. First I have to give you a little introduction to the album: the golden age of grotesque. Manson is always refering to historical points to create paradoxes between them. This album is historically place in the 30' nazi germany. The society the government the religion etc are represented by the nazi party and marilyn manson a bit like a jewish, at the time the jazz music, mikey mouse, jewish artist etc were represented like the "degenerate". And manson is making a paradox between this and the actual society that has just became in a new form another nazi reich: conformism, ethic, religion, stereotypes, the government, the news, and particulary in this case "metal music/jazz music. Like in each of his album the dichtomy of the opposite combination is apply. In the todays society: Satanism: individualism, sexual liberty, freedom. The actual society: control, stereotypes and disinformation everywhere and other related stuff. In the comparative nazi germany: The jewish "degenerate-art": jazz, free music inspiration etc... Nazis: Fascist, control over people and their sexual preferences, rascist etc... A lot of references to the 30' movies, kabarett, society, art. This was just to give you a small idea of the theme of the album so now lets have a look at the lirycs.
