This song is about a romantic relationship in which two people know they will be parting ways. There is something pulling one of those in a relationship one direction while the other individual is trying to hold on and rekindle what became lost. The song's title sloom (whether it be a dream or nightmare) will soon be over. This over-arching metaphor of sleep being applied to the relationship and waking up will be it's close. If the song begins with the ending then the closing two lines are symbolic of something that started out as good propelling them both forward onto their seperate lives with out each other (keep me on my feet). |
