Is it 'scared like a baby' or '*skin* like a baby'? I say the latter! And maybe not "Joan", but "Chalmers"? Either way, "and" is missing, and it should be *the* land. At least in the version I heard (on the Healing the Divide CD). |

Hate to throw a wrench in the middle of some of these interpretations that involve a one-to-one lover/loving relationship, but if you look "closely" at the song title, you'll see that the apostrophe is AFTER the 's' in "Lovers". Which suggests, unless it is a mistake -- which I doubt, that the author is referring to all his past lovers collectively. Otherwise I have no further thoughts about what the lyrics mean. I just think interpretations should take this into account. |
