Aesop Rock – Blue in the Face Lyrics 12 years ago
Homelessness and The American Dream!

"Your dreams is a needle in a needle stack" The best single lyric I have ever heard.

Aesop has some of the best examples and ways to say something that requires you to know a lot of stuff or do a lot or research. This is what "rap" should be if you ask me.

"1,2,3,4 and im a TUG dummy, hug the hungry"
He is talking about paying taxes so people that don't work can have a life and food to eat.

"pull the lever push the button"
Our job, that we do to pay taxes with, is a mindless job. We are like ants in an ant hill.

"Drink the garbage, split the homage, reap the harvest, target everyone"
Do what your told and eat the crap food we give you, Homelessness is rising. We are reaping the harvest of a lack of investment in housing and social services, We are the ones to blame that it has gone so far and so bad.

"Beckon eyes idols that have a malleable colony till the fire ant dropped the sweet leaf grief "
We idolize the people in charge and we are a malleable people following their political agenda. The fire ant dropped the sweet leaf grief: I think this is about people smoking weed and doing mind altering drugs that help them to WAKE UP and see that they are just pawns in this whole thing and that they are being used, witch gives them grief and when they don't follow along with the agenda set before them, they give the people in charge grief and so on..

"your dreams a needle in a needle stack claiming safety pin physics"
This is what the sweet leaf awoke in people to see. That the American dream is the same dream that everyone has and it's not hard to find a needle in a needle stack (compared to finding a needle in a hay stack) But the dream of owning a home and running a business is like a sharp needle that can pierce you or other people. Making you or others homeless from failed business and putting down so much on your house that when your business failed or your job laid you off because their business failed you lost everything and are now homeless. Like a cycle of working hard your whole life and then all the money you spent for a house is null and void because you missed one payment.

Aesop is a tru artist. Like the saying goes "One picture is worth a thousand words" one of Aesop songs is worth a billion thoughts and angles on society, culture, and life in general.

This song meaning is only one of many out there and someone else could interpret this differently or even better than me.
