Bastille – Things We Lost in the Fire Lyrics 12 years ago
Personally, I feel this song is about a fight between either a couple, or simple friends, and the person singing this could be feeling incredibly lonely, singing how they feel about the fight, or "fire", according to the song.
"All that we've amassed, sits before us, shattered into ash." - This could represent how, say friends, have made so many memories, and the "fire" or fight leads all those memories to be "shattered into ash" or essentially diminished, meaningless.
"I was the match, and you were the rock; maybe we started this fire." - This could represent how two friends who are fighting are both at fault, and this fire was started because of them, clearly.
"I read them all one day, when loneliness came, and you were away." - This could represent how after the fight, that the friends are beginning to feel lonely not being with their other friend, and they had to think about their other friend in order to feel like they were not alone, when in reality, they were.
"We were born with nothing, and we sure as hell have nothing now." - This could represent how they weren't friends at the beginning, and now that the 'fire' has erupted, they have nothing, and their friendship is essentially meaningless.
"Do you understand that we will never be the same again?" - This could represent how no matter what, nothing will ever be truly the same again, it's like that saying: 'Trust is like paper, once you crumble it, it will never be perfect again, no matter your attempts' (or something along those lines...)
And last but not least, my favourite line in the song:
"Flames, they licked the walls. Tenderly, they turn to dust, all that I adore." - This could represent how the 'fire' has ruined everything in the relationship, and that's its essentially demolished everything this person adores in life.

The reason I felt the need to do this song, is because I am going through the same situation right now, and all these lyrics and "interpretations" were based off of my personal feelings, so they won't be necessarily correct, depending on the person reading. Nevertheless, this song is incredible, and I can't believe how it describes my situation so perfectly.

Five for Fighting – 100 Years Lyrics 12 years ago
My interpretation of this beautiful song is probably as general as it can possibly get; however, I feel that it might be somewhat accurate:
I feel that this song is mainly about life, and how long one has to live. The meaning of life, perhaps, or how fast life goes. In the song, the author repeatedly refers back to the age '15', and how he is alright with that age, and so on. Then, he goes on saying how he is different ages, such as 33, 45, etc., and this represents his life going in the blink of an eye. Nevertheless, despite his speedy life, if you will, he still refers back to the age 15, and how he'd love to be 15 again. I feel this symbolizes how his best year was when he was 15 years old, and perhaps this can string off into saying that in his 15th year, he was most successful, or in the best emotional spot. Whatever the meaning of that is, the main point is, is that he wants to be 15 again.
Don't let life pass you by; it is so very special.

This song personally means a lot to me, because in my 15th year, I was the most successful, in the best spot emotionally, and I got to accomplish two of my dreams that have been tugging at my heart my entire life. If I could, I would definitely go back to my 15th year, and I repeatedly say in my head: "15, there is definitely still time for you."
