I think this song resembles the hate between Islam and Judaism, Like the general middle east, and the intervention there. Both countries capture and torture, and i think this song generally is about men of faith being tortured. Also the talking bit about the orthodox girl falling in love with the guy. Amazing song overall, i love how MVOTC is so spiritual. |

To me he is speaking as a rich kid with high expectations, like a basic aristocrat, and he finds himself in love with a girl who, well maybe is below par in terms of the standards his ancestors have created for him, hence "ancestors told me that their girl was better, she's richer than croesus she's tougher than leather" so he naturally starts to dislike her, and gradually starts to distance himself from her. THEN the chorus reaches, and he realizes that he shouldn't have been so proud, and that she was all he wanted, and that he listened to his rich spoiled ancestors instead of his heart that's what i get but there are many interps |
