According to Tobias: ""Painting on the wall" is a song talking about those situations when you have to realise, that something is not what you thought it would be. Sometimes it seems to be easier to live an illusion, which is finally not the right way in my opinion." |

I think this is Tobi sending out the message that he will not be swayed to make music he doesn't truly like. "You say treason but I tell you There ain't no reason We just have our share We don't care as long as we're alive Love our sound and like to hear: Where's the chef to make Judas-fillet-steak" "You say treason" could be fans upset that Edguy is evolving their sound, or record companies complaining of the same thing. "We just have our share" could mean Edguy just accepts their share of the money from the album and doesn't care so much about how big of a hit it was, but that they brought their ideas to life as their music. "We don't care as long as we're alive and love our sound" again means that Tobi and the guys are satisfied if they just love the music theyve created. "Like to hear: Where's the chef to make judas-fillet-steak?" I think Tobi is using Judas as a metaphor for himself and the band, saying they know they're growing as a band and changing their sound if they hear people calling them traitors to their OLD sound. |
