I think this song is Gollum warning Frodo at Mount Doom about what will happen to him if he doesn't throw the ring in. The lyrics seem to describe Gollum's fall into his madness because of the ring and that he should have resisted. He does say that he is glad Frodo has Sam to be an anchor in reality, someone Gollum didn't have.
He is telling Frodo to throw the ring in or he will end up like Gollum did. It is too late for himself and he is stuck in the madness but Frodo still has time. The last two lines about being lost and never going home seem true in that going that far changes you and you will be forever not able to return to a normal life because of what the ring does to your mind. Though for Gollum it is somewhat literal because he can never return to Hobbiton and be with his family. Maybe even not just because he committed murder but also because his mind is so far gone he has forgotten the way home. |

I think she is defiantly talking about her new identity here. When I listen to the lyrics I imagine she is responding to all the people reacting negatively to "We Can't Stop." Especially in the chorus. At the same time you could argue this is about Liam and her. I only argument to that is that the lyrics don't really seem to point that direction. |
