I feel with this song, unlike many of Chevelle's older hits, that the message is actually pretty clear if you read the lyrics outloud. It tells a story about two lovers who broke up due to different views. The song is about how the woman is explaining that she has moved on to bigger and better things. No matter what changes she thinks she made the Ex will never accept them and still sees her for who she once was (and will always be). He basically says yeah you can do this and yeah you can say you do that, you can say you are this and you can say you are not that, but either way he knows she has never changed. He wants her out of his life, just pack it all up and leave. He respects her opinions as does she respect his but they both see right through eachother. |
