Another way to interpret the song is how things as simple as conversation can become a drug, the song speaks about this addiction for human contact as a drug and how there is a power struggle between wanting and needing communication, and when communication stops between two people the effect leaves a dark and brooding loneliness that is not helped when there's something inside that feeds off the pain from loneliness. |

This song acts as a continuation from State of Mind and how there are two sanctuaries I created, one being The Dark One which got a slight introduction in "beginning of the end" and the second one which this song goes into, and in my opinion intimately explains that while The Shadow is an escape, it doesn't do the "job" because there is a shred of human want and need even within something like Shadow. I do say that it feels good to slightly separate myself from the world in such a way it doesn't go too deep within the escape it leads to the malevolent force taking over, yet the Shadow is not less tragic than the reality it is still somewhat a part of and does still wish for things even though they seem impossible to gain. |

| The Dark One – State of Mind Lyrics

This song was written after a bad experience with Eharmony, I always think of how funny it is State of Mind parallels perfectly with a song from "The Wandering Shadow" called Set the Fire which uses "Plenty of Fish" so anyways back to State of Mind.
This song takes a different direction and treats the issues with relationships to a questionable method...rather than an angry method...it reflects to these happenings as cruel acts of human betrayal on dating sites and asks the dating population "why reach out to someone who's clearly looking for a relationship, lead them along and break it to them, they are not interested in it, despite how eager they were to pursue me in the first place." So I give myself flack on things like; maybe it's because I come on to strong and i repel people away, at least from my experience I've been told i do this. Often these experiences will leave me in a state of constant depression because I feel the sting of these words and I often just end up shutting myself out from the world and entering a deep state of seclusion to separate myself from a world that I don't want to face. |

This song does detract from the lyrical structure at times but remains the same...It's a song which fully represents a revenge construct when it comes to one's family structure, and in particular the mother. There is nothing too cryptic in this one to be analyzed, I wrote this song because i was sick and tired of how my mother focuses her hate on me, and my reason for believe this is because i refuse to be a puppet or an automaton like she created with my other siblings and can't stand someone speaking back. Along with her "the world revolves around me" mind set, and her constant deceptive life, I wanted to share the true ugliness of my mother and for this song i think i reveal the kind of person she really is. |

This song refers to "power" through words or actions, and how through the use of words I had taken physical control of people and amplified the control with the use of paranormal circumstances and demonic influences. The chorus refers to how much control I may have over my subject, there is a deep and dark instinctive force that wants to destroy the people under the influence of the darkness. "Children born of darkness" refers to the repercussion when the "aftershock" leaves people shaken when they delve too deep into the "Dark One's" world and how much it affected them, even if they deny the power afterwards. |
