yes check out anytime you want but you can never leave, heroin addiction checking out is the knod and the fact that heroin addiction is forever. could be heaven...this is the fact that its the best feeling and take u to a wonderful place, but there is a dark side that is horrible. "lit the candle" is to heat the spoon "show me the way" either how to do it or less literal the way to euphoria. "Some dance to remember...forget" one does heroin to leave this world or to stay in a place that was wo0nderful at one time. havent had that spirit here since 1969, 1969 the end of the summer of love and when people were just doing drugs to get high not to open the doors of perception. the 70s were just addiction and partying to get high. there are documentary's on this period. "stabbing with the steely knife" thats the needle, and "it cant kills the beast", which is what one is trying to escape from. i started with the last lyric, but thats how I see it and I think im spot on. I mean its pretty cut and dry, its not hidden to deeply in the lyrics, its blatant wouldnt you say. I have read some pretty ridiculous interpretations thats for sure
