I personally think that the song is about taking a chance and a risk after a bad relationship. The first verse: "Well I knew what I didn't want to know And I saw where I didn't want to go So I took the path less traveled on And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone..." I think that she is saying that she knows what she wants and what she doesn't want- in my mind I think she is falling for someone but is afraid to take the risk of the relationship ending badly. It think that "I took the path less traveled on" is her deciding to take the risk and then she continues to say that she doesn't care what people will say if the relationship ends badly. (And I'll let my stories be whispered when I'm gone) The second verse: "Well in this life, you must find something to live for 'Cause when the darkness comes calling You go back to where you were before 'Cause this life is as fragile as a dream And nothing's ever really as it seems..." Here she is saying that if you don't have something/someone to life for or something/someone who makes you happy you will go back to your darkest self- in which case would be going back to the previous bad relationship. The fact that this life is as fragile as a dream indicates how careful she is after the previous relationship and how she was blindsided by how badly it ended- in which case I think the person that the she was with turned out to be not how he seemed when they met. The third verse: "Well I lost my innocence when in I let him dive But the way he looked at me made me feel alive And now I know nothing at all But the release that comes when you're in mid fall..." I think that this verse is talking about how she met the person that she is falling for. Such as the feeling of being "alive" when he looked at her. She is falling for him, and feels like she is in "mid fall" -- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -- Finally I just want to say how much i love this song and it is one of the most beautiful song that i have ever heard. It is probably the MOST played song on my ipod. Well done Lily Kershaw **applause** |
