Neil Young – Cowgirl In The Sand Lyrics 12 years ago
I believe he is singing about a promiscuous young married woman who is a groupie. Your band begun to rust, her wedding band. The young lady in question probably from a rural area, sleeps with guys on the beach. Is this place at your command, is it safe to have sex at that spot. Old enough to get married, to change your name. This is not what it seems, he does not love her. Purple words on grey background, a note she sent him in purple ink on grey paper. I was hoping that we would turn bad, hoped the relationship would end by now. Play this game; fooling around with her on the side.

I think Mr. Young was going through issues with Carrie Snodgrass and son Zeke, born with CP. She supposedly had a drug and alcohol addiction; wonder if the usage affected their son? I can see why women's advocates upset about lyrics. Many young men would have enjoyed having someone to do laundry, clean house and make no demands upon them. May not be right, but is correct.

Reagan presidency with build up of military, involvement in Iran Contra affair; plenty of money to spend on military. Reagan defunded public treatment of mentally ill people; great increase in the number of homeless living on the streets. Supreme Court heard Webster v. Reproductive which imposed restrictions on abortion. Agree song bitter satirical comment on "the free world"
