Amy Winehouse – Back To Black Lyrics 12 years ago
First verse is about Blake cheating on Amy with his ex. Amy keeps her head high and is trying to move forward.

Second verse is where the drug references start.
"I tread a troubled track" - note the choice of words and double entendre here, between track in life, and needle tracks (heroin)
"my odds are stacked / i'll go back to black"
This is a pivotal two lines. Amy is saying that the odds are against her being able to really move on without Blake, and that she'll probably go back to black = Black Tar Heroin, folks. Keep on reading..

Third verse.. Now Amy is complaining they only said goodbye with words, but "I go back to us" = Amy is still hooking up with Blake, while "you go back to her" = Blake is also hooking up with his ex.

Next verse gets more sad. Amy says that their love isn't enough, because Blake loves blow (cocaine) and she loves puff (it's debated what this means, but I believe it means either smoked heroin or meth).
This verse also contains a brilliant simile. Pay attention here, folks..
"life is like a pipe / and I'm a tiny penny rolling up the walls inside."
Now I've heard all kinds of interpretations of this, but think about it logically. How does a penny roll UP the walls?
Simple.. it's a penny of heroin, which is slang for a unit of measure that the drug is bought in. She's being smoked inside the pipe of life, and the "tiny penny" she is, the smoke from heroin, is rolling up the inside the wall of the pipe. What an image.

Song goes on, Amy is still hooking up with Blake and dying from it, and Amy DOES go back to black = she is now on black tar heroin again. Poor Amy.
