Living For The City segues beautifully into Ghetto Defendant on a playlist I've created. It fit sonically and thematically. Then Concrete Jungle by Bob Marley follows. All very powerful tunes with striking social comments, needing to be heard. Ginsberg's words parallel Strummer's voice giving a rich contrast while compounding the message. I always felt The Clash got more interesting as they varied their sound. Ghetto Defendant, Sean Flynn, Stop The World, and others from the era are just plain magical. |
