| Good Shoes – Morden Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I'm about 6 years too late for this one, but here's a few things cleared up (as somebody from Morden) - The reasons Wilkinsons was changed to Superdrug in the lyrics is because the Wilkinsons in Morden closed down in the time between the demo and the album being recorded. - Fifty pound shops should be read as fifty £1 shops, as in the place is full of pound shops - it is in no way expensive. The skinhead wearing a Burberry coat reference is the same as how "chavs" are portrayed wearing Burberry caps - The murders and deaths mentioned are all real, there was a boy who hanged himself from what used to be the Safeway car park (then Morrisons, now Sainsburys) due to trouble with gangs. Also, there was a young man who drove into a chicane (or concrete pollards) into a lake off of Canon Hill lane, there are still flowers placed there around the time of the anniversary. So yeah, the place name Morden isn't made up for the irony. |
