I think the 'he has a girl in chelsea he wants so much' is an excuse. It's the way Jesse copes with being attracted to boys, it's sort of like saying 'I'm horny, that's all. I have this girl in Chelsea. I love her.' This boy is singing about how he loves Jesse but Jesse is in denial, he'l 'kiss and go to bed' but he won't talk because that means admitting to the fact that he's gay and it's not just all in the boys mind. When he changes to Danny, I think he's saying he's moved on from Jesse. He falls in love with this other boy but he says he's got a girl in Chelsea as well. It's a different boy but the same excuse. The song is all about how these closeted boys are afraid of showing themselves to the world, they have to make excuses. And the boy who's being told this excuse has doubts that maybe it's true, maybe Jessie does love this girl in chelsea. Maybe it is all in his mind. But then when Jesse smiles he know that they're the same. Also, part about 'there's no need for you to say you saw they life they chose for me' I think he's saying to Jesse that " I know that I'll be picked on for being gay, I know what happens when a boy likes to kissing another but we can still be us even so." Sort of like not being held to conventions of the world. I don't know if this made sense but yeah. IJ |
