| Pet Shop Boys – Opportunities (Let's Make Lots Of Money) Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Lots of comments, lots of different viewpoints about this great 1980's classic tune. I respect them all. . .but. . .they're all dead wrong! This song is actually about Star Wars (the classic trilogy)! To be specific this is an ode to R2-D2, the most under appreciated droid in galactic history. So, it's about time someone gave the little guy that homage he's due! Now, I know the lyrics may throw you off a bit with all the lines about getting rich, but that's just the PSB's subtle way of luring you into their lyrical genius. The riches and money lines are just R2-D2 trying to speak to the humans on their level. So, let's examine a few lines, shall we? You've got the looks, I got the brains - R2D2 is addressing Princess Leia here. You've got the brawn, I've got the brains - and there's his nod to Chewbacca. I've had enough of scheming and messing around with jerks. My car is parked outside, I'm afraid it doesn't work I'm looking for a partner, someone who gets things fixed. . .R2D2 is talking about scheming and messing around with jerks being the galactic empire. That's why he allows Leia to insert the secret Death Star Plans into his memory bank. My car is parked outside, etc. That's a direct reference to the Millennium Falcon, which hardly ever works properly, and someone who gets things fixed is talking about C3PO who never works, just whines and complains. You can tell I'm educated, I studied at the Sorbonne Doctored in mathematics, I could have been a don I can program a computer, choose the perfect time If you've got the inclination, I have got the crime I mean really, could the PSB have been any more direct? R2D2 is one smart little droid. He can open locked doors and shut down garbage compactors for Christ's sake! I have got the crime is a reference to saving Han Solo from criminal boss Jabba the Hut. Basically, the whole song is making two points. Without R2D2, the rest of those yahoos (including Jedi Masters) would be dead in the water. Second: if you team up with R2D2 then you can work together and orchestrate the demise of a galactic empire. Simple. |

First off. . .whoever typed the lyrics on this page. . .woah. . .try the 2X or 5X sometime. Deamn. Makes no difference, though cause know what? This song is about Star Wars. No ifs ands or buts about it folks. Let's get this going here.Like the legend of the phoenix All ends with beginnings What keeps the planet spinning (uh) The force of love beginning Okay, this is a reference to the Millennium Falcon in Empire Strikes Back. . .as is this entire song. It's a musical interlude between Han Solo and Leia while they try and repair the Falcon on the asteroid. Only their love (lust whatever) discovered can save them from certain doom at the hands of Vader. Han must become the phoenix by becoming frozen in carbonite so Leia can love him truly and set him free to rise (in Return of the Jedi, she accomplishes this). But I digress, Up all night: that whole block of lyrics is Han and Leia while they work on the falcon, right up to the point when they kiss, an inevitable moment. We've come too far to give up who we are So let's raise the bar and our cups to the stars: okay this is how Han and Leia are destined to be together, don't give up who they are and go with it, let it flow. I mean, crap Leia's other options are her brother and a huge hairy beast, so that's a no brainer. And Han, well for some reason the Rebellion only has like two or three chicks in it, so in that sausage factory, all the dudes are shit outta luck. Han better jump on Leia before half the rebel fleet does. At any rate, Daft Punk is great and they have hit a gold one here with this funky tribute to outer space love. . .lust, whatever. |

| Pantera – Walk Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Hello again music fans. It's time to deal with some great metal lyrics here. And. . .guess what. . .Fukn A! This song is about Star Wars. This is a rough one, but if you look closely you will find the truth. The genius behind the minds of Pantera is subtle and actually quite mind blowing. Unlike the other songs that I have proven were about Star Wars, this song is from the perspective of Chewbacca. And, it's about gd time too! This is Chewbacca talking to Luke when they first meet. I know it doesn't seem that way, cause all we hear is Grrr! Roar! Gurglegrowl! and Roar!. But if you spoke Wookie, as I do (taught myself), you would know that this is Chewbacca's attitude about Luke--at first. If you notice, Luke is a whiny little girl a lot of the time, so this is Chewbacca venting his frustration over this. He knows Luke has a destiny and here Luke is just moan complain moan complain, blah blah blah. . .and the prick's got the nerve to try and put handcuffs on a Wookie? Fuk that, son! So, yes, even in the world of heavy metal. . .every song ever written since 1977 is actually about Star Wars. Challenge me if you may. I miss Dimebag. | |
| A Flock of Seagulls – I Ran (So Far Away) Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I really can't believe how everyone got this song dead wrong!! Wow!! Alien abduction is close. . .but. . .no cigar! This song, like all songs since 1977, is in reality about Star Wars. C'mon peeps! Look, Mike Score is obviously playing the role of Han Solo in this song and he's talking to Leia. Now, it may seem a little confusing, but Han is talking to Leia as he descends into the carbon freezing chamber. This is the dream that keeps him going while frozen, keeps his hopes alive while hanging on Jabba the Hut's wall for years on end waiting for his friends to save him--even though they know exactly where the hell he is! But that's another song for another day. Anyway, Han is sending out a subconscious message to Leia, basically saying I love you, now come get my ass outta here!!!! There's no denying it. So, don't even try. :) | |
| A Flock of Seagulls – Windows Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| AHA! Found it! Sweet. . .that's right. . .this song is about Star Wars! The window he keeps speaking of is obviously the cockpit of the falcon and M. Score is taking on the character of Han Solo in this particular ditty. | |
| Hall and Oates – Out of Touch Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This is one of my favorite all time songs. . .and guess what. . .BINGO! It's about Star Wars! Empire Strikes Back to be specific. It's undeniable. Let's begin: "shake it up is all that we know," is Han Solo talking to Princess Leia about them fighting all the time, "using up the bodies as we go," refers to how exhausting that tension is for them. "Broken ice still melts in the sun" is obviously a line about Han and Leia beginning a relationship on the ice planet of Hoth. "Times that are broken. . ." this is talking about their experience on Cloud City of Bespin when Han is being tortured by Vader and prepared for carbonite freezing. The chorus is actually about this as well. "You're out of touch," at first glance appears to be about being out of touch with reality or some crazy damn thing, but in fact it points to the fact that when Han is being lowered into the freezing chamber, he can't touch Leia--a very emotionally painful prospect. And, he's "out of time?" Hall and Oates couldn't have made it more obvious, folks! "Looking for love where the climate is cold" has double meaning as Han and Leia work through their sexual tension on Hoth (a cold planet) and Leia would rather kiss a Wookie (her cold heart). "Manic moves and drowsy dreams" is clearly talking about Han navigating through the asteroid field then coming to rest on one of the bigger ones. "Smoking guns hot to the touch" is a direct reference to Han trying to blast Vader at Cloud City. "Too much" I agree! Hall and Oates have clearly written an epic tune about an epic movie! | |
| Men at Work – Down Under Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| And, the power of Eighties strikes again! This, again guys is obviously a song about Star Wars. The "land down under" is a reference to Tattoine the planet where Luke grew up. "Head full of zombies" refers to Luke's training, particularly his failure in the cave, where he kills Vader only to see himself in the helmet. The strange lady that made me nervous is a reference to luke's mother, cause he's all hey this bitch's dead, WTF? Lying in a den, that's han solo at mos isley before obi wan and luke approach him. so, no offense Ausies, but this is dripping Star Wars. (The original trilogy, those prequels can F off) | |
| Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark – Enola Gay Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Yes, this is a very serious song. And, while on the surface it seems that it is about the atomic bomb dropped by the plane of the same name in 1945, it is actually a parallel to the Death Star blowing up Leia's home planet of Alderan. I understand that the parallel is hard to catch, mainly because OMD was very tricky in the lyric writing. OMD blames Princess Leia herself for the destruction of Alderan. I know it's hard to hear, but it's true. If Leia had stayed at home, instead of trying to steal the plans to the Death Star, Alderan would never have been targeted! Enola Gay, while on the surface seems to be a reference to the Death Star and Gov. Tarkin, is actually referring to Leia! Is mother proud of Little Boy today is a reference to Luke, who as of yet is too stupid to realize his potential and destiny. If he had at this point become a Jedi, then he would've blown up the Death Star before Leia was capture by Darth Vader and brought aboard. So, in essence, OMD is also blaming Luke Skywalker for the destruction of Alderan. This kiss is never going to fade away is so obviously a reference to the incestuous kiss shared by Luke and Leia in Empire Strikes Back, bringing shame and disgust on their family forever. So, clever clever OMD using a historical warfare event to bring their opinions about the Skywalker legacy to light. What a song!! | |
| New Order – The Perfect Kiss Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| You guys handle the lyrics pretty well, so not much to add there. But, just wanted to say the music is what speaks to me in this song, especially Hooky's hypnotic bass line. Hmm, using a bass to do more than just thump out a rhythm. . .who would've thunk it? There's a Youtube video of this song, extended, if you haven't seen it, go check it out. The bass line in that is even better. This is music. Rock today is dead. | |
| Nirvana – Heart-Shaped Box Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I'm not trying to insult anyone but you're all way off the mark here. This is obviously a song about Luke realizing what the dark side of the force is via his visions of Darth Vader. . .particularly his failure in the cave. Magnet tar pit trap is a direct reference to that cave. She eyes me like a Pisces is Obi Wan trying to keep the fact that Leia is Luke's twin sister out of his mind, because if he thinks about his sister, then she will be betrayed to their dark side. I've got a new complaint, forever in debt to your priceless advice is a jab at Luke's training with Yoda itself. He is too really too old to train and therefore his first instincts lead him to discount that training with sarcasm and narcissism. And broken hymen of your highness? That's obviously a reference to Queen Amadala, who died in childbirth. This has to be kept out of Luke's mind, or else he will succumb to the dark side! So, sorry Nirvana fans, Kurt was just trying to let us all know the dangers of the dark side with this one! | |
| New Order – True Faith Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This is obviously true faith in the force here folks. Liberty through the force, letting go of those feelings (I don't care cause I'm not there) because emotions lead to the dark side. Luke's childhood is replaced by fear, fear of who he is, never leaving Tattoine, where he comes from, etc. Now, the "morning sun is a drug. . ." I think Luke is toying with the dark side here and it's going to lead him right into the sun if he's not careful, delight (see the light, whatever) or not my friends. We must take care not to toy with the dark side, cause if we do "chances are we've gone too far. . ." So, not to discount anyone else and their experiences that led to the previous interpretations but I think logical analysis of the lyrics will prove that I'm right. :) | |
| New Order – Bizarre Love Triangle Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I like to think that it's a song about Princess Leia, at the beginning of empire when she doesn't yet know that Luke is her brother. She really wants Han, but there's that boyish honor in Luke that draws her to him somehow. Of course, there's no way that she could ever end up with anyone other than Mr. Solo, because let's face it, royalty loves rogue. The bolt of blue is Luke's light saber. And, she's confused because she doesn't want the good times of Hoth to end, but she knows that by running, she will start a beautiful and fulfilling relationship with Han. That's just my take on it. | |
