| Marilyn Manson – I Don't Like the Drugs (But the Drugs Like Me) Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I'd say that this song is about religion, most about christianity. This would explain some things like e.g. the gospel singers at the end of the song. Now the first verse is about christianity. I don't like the drugs but the drugs like me.. He doesn't like the christians, but they like him. You experienced this on youtube for sure with comments like, don't listen to such music, god loves you, or accept jesus as your savior etc. Then continued by the norm life verses. This is just a criticism. Then he explains that in the eyes of the believers you and marilyn manson himself are 'underdosed' you don't believe in god or too less. And that in their eyes you just were raised to be stupid and to be nothing at all. Then this is being repeated and then he sings. There's a hole in our soul that we fill with dope, and we're feeling fine. Dope is something 'bad' or something that distracts you from your problems or something that gives you the feeling that everything is alright. So logical that dope can be replaced by the word god odr christianity. They fill there hole in their soul with god an they think everything is alright or they just lie to themselves about it. And they feel fine by that. |
