The title comes from a sample of kids’ voices the band used, but later abandoned, when recording. Thom apparently also likes the idea that the album is dedicated to the first human clone. "... the idea that, somewhere, some errant scientist has already created the first completely genetically cloned baby - Kid A. I'm sure it has happened. I'm sure somewhere it has already been done, even though it's illegal now." He lives in a box. that is what the gimp in pulp fiction is about. and the song 'oh well, okay' by elliott smith. 'an airless cell that blocks the day' It is about a clone. 'I'll see you in the next life' in MPS is about how they killed kid A and brought out his clone to replace him. |

This song is about the negative celebrity that the government created. Flies are buzzin round my head = the government is planning on killing him and he knows it The big fish eat the little ones = everyone knows but nobody wants to help out of self-interest. you'll never change that. If you try the best you can, the best you can is good enough = if he would have obeyed the law or not gotten drunk, they would not have killed him. I'd really like to help you man = the intelligence agents aren't that sick and don't like humans to suffer but it is not their choice. nervous messed up marionettes = he is a robot (see scaramouche in bohemian rhapsody, punch and judy by elliott smith and cloned hitler on the t.v. show mr. show.
