| The Ark – The Worrying Kind Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Love this song. How it didn't win Eurovision is a crime against music. A massive slab of pink bubblegum. As someone who used to be "The Worrying Kind" (I've reprioritised!) I sympathise with the protagonist. He is held back because he is a chronic worrywort. Words fall easily from him...and he likes to talk about his predicament in order to alleviate the worry, but ultimately they only serve to make it worse! "Words, I like to break 'em Words I'd like to shake 'em Shake them from my troublesome mind" He accepts that he shouldn't worry and that worrying gets him nowhere, but he can't break the cycle...He accepts his very human frailties but knows that he could achieve so, so much if he didn't fret "I'm just a silly old boy with my head in the can I'm just a mortal with potential of a superman" Cracking wee tune... |

| Eric Burdon & the Animals – It's All Meat Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I loved when Eric underwent his Damascene conversion and threw himself fully into the whole San Franciscan love, bells and beads thing...and this was someone who looked like the archetypal grizzled Geordie shipyard worker! This song is a great spot of evangelizing on Eric's part about the 'oneness' of music. In Eric's eyes, be it soul, blues, rock, jazz or Indian music...it is all derived from the same source and music transcends limitations imposed by labels, so ultimately music is 'all meat from the same bone'. I love the line 'when Clapton talks'. I am certain Eric B. is referring to the fact that Clapton had/has the ability to make his guitar 'talk' inasmuch that it spoke on his behalf with more clarity than mere words could ever hope to do justice to. ...and I still have no idea who Erkel Darbies is and what he was doing on his travels! |
