| Short Stack – Jack The Ripper Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Personally, along with Shaun's other love/hate songs, I believe this is on of them. I believe that this song reflects a relationship that started off well but was soon just made for the sexual pleasure of the two and no actual feelings were attached. "She wore a pink sweater I'd never seen her better than this Then we kissed and I cut myself open And I never Ever loved another like this It was bliss as she said with a smile" This could represent the start of the relationship and how it was innocent and blissful. Her 'fear' could be of the relationship turning out worse even though she could be inflicting what makes it worse. "Dance like a stripper It's money well spent I sway like Jack the Ripper So believe me when the boy sings" When the relationship starts to just be for intercourse. "Rock solid I can see you down on your knees Begging please With your damn yous and thank yous And I never Ever loved another like this It was bliss like we're going out of style" The girl is starting to get detached from the relationship and is getting sick of the other, eventually deciding it's getting old (going out of style) and they call it off. |

| Pierce the Veil – Bulletproof Love Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Just a general comment here, but the lines: "Forever and alone." "I wanna hold your hand so tight," and "My love for you was bulletproof, but you're the one who shot me." remind me of Molly's unrequited love for Sherlock Holmes on BBC's Sherlock. Any Sherlockians agree? |

| Youngblood Hawke – We Come Running Lyrics | 12 years ago |

This song reminds me a lot about Doctor Who. (Sorry for my whovian outlook.) Under a pale blue sky You never felt so cold Another sleepless night How could you ever let go How do you recognize The dirty face of gold Behind that crooked line Where you never knew you'd go This verse reminds me a lot of all te companions the Doctor has had. They have been curious about the universe, and in their own little ways, alone. Headed for the open door (The TARDIS doors) Tell me what you're waiting for (What the companion is waiting for) Look across the great divide (the Universe - perhaps when the 11th Doctor held Amy in Space) Soon they're gonna hear The sound, the sound, the sound When we come running (The Doctor always tells a companion to run) Never go where we belong (The TARDIS almost never brings them where they wanna go) Echoes in the dead of dawn Soon they're gonna know The sound, the sound, the sound When we come running When the worlds gone quiet I see you dancing slow Feeling satisfied Where you never knew you'd go (Companions' and Doctor's thoughts) Days go by Feeling broke and tired Remember Always remember (Doctor remembering the Time War) That was my take. |

| Coldplay – Viva la Vida Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Now, I know many will oppose this, but I am a reader of the warrior Cats series. For me, Viva la Vida is kind of like Bluestar's story. For those who haven't read warriors, here is a quick rundown on Bluestar: She's a leader of a very powerful clan of forest cats. After her deputy tried to kill her, she went insane. She had a dead mate, and her kits were in a different clan (their father was in the same clan as the kits). She died protecting her clan from dogs. Now, my opinion: "I used to rule the world Seas would rise when I gave the word Now in the morning, I sleep alone Sweep the streets I used to own." Bluestar was well respected among all the clans (prior insanity) and every clan cat in her clan did what she asked (most of the time) without question. After insanity, she was basically left alone and (after death) walked the territory of the world she used to know. "I used to roll the dice Feel the fear in my enemy's eyes Listen as the crowd would sing: "Now the old king is dead! Long live the king!"" she would take chances wisely, and when going into battle felt the fear of her enimies. The clan, when she was made leader, wouldv'e chanted the last line in the verse, "One minute I held the key Next the walls were closed on me And I discovered that my castles stand Upon pillars of salt and pillars of sand." Everyone trusted her, but when te deputy tried to kill her, she thought she couldn't trust anyone. She realized Starclan (their religion) wasn't real if they had let the deputy almost kill her. "I hear Jerusalem bells a ringing Roman Cavalry choirs are singing Be my mirror, my sword and shield My missionaries in a foreign field For some reason I can't explain Once you go there was never, never an honest word That was when I ruled the world" Bluestar is basically looking for her mate, wishing he'd be there to help her. When the deputy was exiled, maybe she believed all words said about Starclan were lies. "It was a wicked and wild wind Blew down the doors to let me in Shattered windows and the sound of drums" This line would be like the new deputy's thoughts on Bluestar, cutting herself off from the clan, believing no one was to be trusted. "People couldn't believe what I'd become" Bluestar's realization on what the clan thought of her. "Revolutionaries wait For my head on a silver plate Just a puppet on a lonely string Oh who would ever want to be king?" The other clans basically didn't want Bluestar in charge anymore. Leaders in clans were basically giving on the messages from Starclan and doing what Starclan wanted (puppet). Bluestar would question her leader role. (Chorus) well, that was my opinion on it. |

| Three Days Grace – Animal I Have Become Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I think it's about this person, who maybe a few years back was sweet innocent etc, but something dark has become of them, and they're trying to hide it. They want hlp with the animal inside, but is afraid to hurt someone. "So what if you can see the darkest side of me? No one would ever change this animal I have become And we believe it's not the real me Somebody help me tame this animal I have become And we believe it's not the real me Somebody help me tame this animal" I believe the chorus is the person kind of saying, you know, so what if I'm like this? They are kind of accepting themselves, but they still feel the need of someone to help them 'tame' the animal inside. But seriosly, this is the one of the two songs that got me into TDG. (Other was Time of Dying) |

| Placebo – Every You Every Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Adding on to all the Dr Who similarities in the song, I believe that yes, this song is heavily influenced by the Doctor and his dear TARDIS. "Sucker love a box I choose No other box I choose to use" This is quite obviously a reference to the TARDIS. "All alone in space and time There's nothing here but what here's mine Something borrowed, something blue Every me and every you" This is actually a very sad but true line in the song. The Doctor, even though 98% of the time accompanied by a companion, is very lonely, having his companions be separated from him one way or another. Essentially, the only 'companion' he has as such is his TARDIS. And we all know he 'borrowed' it and we all know it's blue. Finally, "Sucker love I always find Someone to bruise and leave behind" this, and I am debating about this one, seems like his own somewhat hatred of himself. He 'bruises' his companions (leaving them, ultimately making them depressed an mentally bruised) and "leave behind." Well, even a blind person knows that means what it just said. So in conclusion: I will never listen to this song without thinking about the Doctor. |
