I know it isn't this, but it maybe says something about my frame of mind that I spent a long time thinking that the song was prompting a suicidal person to just go ahead and do it. Up beat, happy music juxtaposed with dark, sinister lyrics. The person always has something on their mind, 'fit to drop', generally troubled. They have thought about suicide, but don't know what is on the other side. If they just go ahead and do it, literally jump out of the window, things could be marvellous, the release would be marvellous. This is the time, the end of the line. Even now when I look at the lyrics, they are completely consistent with the meaning I originally read into them. |
