Always frustrates me to hear someone say they don't "like" someone who they don't know. I digress... I've followed John Mayer since he was a young man in the late 90's releasing EP's and his first set of radio singles. It's been pretty incredible to see him grow and change as an artist and as a man. One thing, however, has not changed about John Mayer and that seems to be a longing for a simple life with a woman that he truly, deeply cares for. Other songs like Home Life and almost the entire album Born and Raised ring of a man who just wants to find her and love her forever without all the challenges of being a famous musician. I believe that John is torn between wanting to be a rambling man who sucks the marrow out of youth and wanting to be the rock steady man of someones dreams. As someone who often times feels this way, and one of his biggest fans, I wish him luck in this search for common ground. |
