| Forget the lyrics!! the music is just so awesome that one cannot simply pay attention to what Tyler is singing.. The music definitely overrides his voice and the listener is so hooked to it, that after the song ends you realize you were only listening to the music without feeling the lyrics :P :) | |

Even I support fragile's view.. But I rather feel this song is about a difficult Long Distance Relationship (LDR) which is on the verge of ending instead of the one that ends in a marriage.. It seems their relationship was just beginning when the guy moved to a distant place.. It seems both of them don't want to break up but cannot admit it, so the guy is saying "You can have All or Nothing" meaning either they should be truly committed or just break-up.. Also, its the people's opinions that are getting in the way of their relationship "We got our backs against the ocean It's just us against the world" meaning they may be afraid to let people know about their relationship for whatever possible reasons.. Another possible meaning can be that the guy is regarded as 'Good for nothing' by his society or community and the girl made him realize that he isn't as worthless as the people think of him and he's ready to try his best for her.. "With you I know that I am good for something So lets go give it a try" Also that can be the reason why they aren't able to tell the world about their relationship because people think they aren't a match for each other since they think the guy is 'good for nothing'... It could also be that the guy feels inferior to the girl due to society's opinions which can be the reason why they are not committing or admitting their feelings to each other, thus being in-between.. To sum it up, it feels like this song is a confession by a guy who is regarded as 'good for nothing' by his society, who had just begun to get into a relationship with his girl when one of them move to a distant place for whatever reason, they both want to be committed but they just cannot admit it and he's afraid the girl would leave and hence this song.. |

Best song on the Album after All or Nothing.. Its so inspirational.. My fav lines are: Everybody expects me to break but i'll never break down again Everybody expects me to give up but you'll never see me givin in Everybody wants me to lose but i'll never lose who I am and the music arrangement too is just the perfect one for this type of song.. And like KnightPrincess13 said even I created an account specifically for this song :) |
