| Circa Survive – Act Appalled Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| These lyrics are found throughout "House of Leaves" by Danielwski. "Get back to the center" /the labyrinth "I'm not sure it was before" and "patience" to get out of the house. CS have succeeded where Johnny Truant went into a spiral of madness. | |
| Circa Survive – House Of Leaves Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| Where do you see monster scratches? I concur with the conclusion of inner labyrinth, but I always thought it was Truant who has inner problems. He can't sleep. He sheds himself from others. Instead of focusing on Zampano so much and his disbelief of the inner growing house (internal problems), he is in denial of those problems. Zampano seemed an ordinary man, a bit detached from society but seems at peace with that conclusion. Truant is obsessed over the Files. I think it's a statement of you really don't know what people think/are going through, but can judge them, while you may have some issues yourself. Why must it be? Can we evolve and adapt to the inevitable forces in our lives? | |
| Circa Survive – Blood from a Stone Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| From my perspective, it sounds like Anthony's friend committed suicide in the beginning of the song. "Ruptured the seal in the wall" meaning the bullet, that "time cannot repair." The rest of the song seems to be a reflection on the events leading up to his friends' suicide. "So emotionless" I interpret as his friend being dead, "What'll bring you back to life?" A strong statement, the machine reference I don't get unless it's the machines in the hospital. The whole stanza with "Your stories never end, our time is now suspended..." seems like a reflection, like I previously said, before his friend committed suicide. Circa Survive, folks (Stay alive). | |
| Circa Survive – Your Friends Are Gone Lyrics | 12 years ago |

From listening to all of Circa's albums, I have to say that "On Letting Go" is the most spiritually-rich, complex, and the most melancholic album that they have released. No one really knows what the meanings of each song are, but from my own reflection, it seems that there is a theme in "On Letting Go", one of a person coming to a depressing realization of something. However, "On Letting Go" seems to provoke spiritual growth through individual reflection. Keeping with the ideas of the (my) theme of "On Letting Go", I feel that "Your Friends are Gone" doesn't disappoint as it is the climax of the album. That being said, in my own interpretation, I believe that Anthony has grasped the fact that one day he will die, and he will forever be alone. If Anthony is truly an Atheist and doesn't believe in a higher power, I feel that this song can be interpreted that all we have is this life, and once we die, that's it. It sounds like Anthony is struggling to accept this idea, and in turn reflects on the people in his life. Doing so, Anthony realizes that he spent too much time worrying about satisfying what others wanted/needed, instead of focusing on spiritual growth and one day being able to accept that one way we will face death, and in his mind, nothing else afterward. He uses special words throughout the song that indicate a certain point. "The morning sun will make OUR bodies comfortable." In my belief, he means every human being. The fact that the world we live in, it is like we are robots, wake-up, go to work/school, go to sleep. Anthony is set on a mission to help others find their inner peace, develop their spirituality, and spend your life happily, even if your friends are really gone. |
