That alarm clock and what it means haunts me. I literally joined this website just to comment on this one post...if I ever met Jack White I would ask him that one question and be satisfied if I couldn't say another word to him. I think this is my favorite song by them, until I hear ANY other song by them. Every song is perfect. I don't think it's a dream...but I have NO idea. If I had to guess, the alarm is a wake up, but not from a dream. Sort of an alarm to someone in the room, probably to Rita Hayworth, like her Alarm bells are going off with this person she just realized is obsessing over her. Or MAYBE a bell to him that he doesn't see, that he is suddenly obsessive and doesn't even realize it. Like a red light you might accidentally drive right through if you were so distracted. I literally rewind back to that alarm bell several times before I let the whole song play out. It's in a place where he is excited about showing others that he met a celebrity, after a photo. That's the part that confuses me...the placement of the bell. It has to mean something...or its a total joke by Jack to get idiots like me to die wondering! lol. Either way, it's genius. |
