| Spinvis – Koning Alcohol Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I don't think it's about alcohol addiction, personally. The line 'I was seventeen' and the fact that 'king Alcohol' sends him a postcard at the end asking how he's doing, tells me this person is recalling memories of an old youth friend he spent several drunk nights with. We've all known this kind of person who's always at the front line at parties and is kind of 'the coolest', even though he always gets the most drunk of everyone and isn't very reliable as a true friend. There's also some history between them that isn't specified. ('He saw everything') It's about that kind of relationship where they're a big part of your life and you look up to them when you're young, ('he lifts me on his throne') but later in life they become just a memory and someone who sends a postcard now and then. | |
