After a quick internet skim, it became obvious to me that "coffin nails" could also be used to describe cigarettes. That moment was when it all made sense to me. This song is about someone overcoming an addiction. The cigarettes is the "monster" and they are "so hard to pull". After every line in the chorus, "break free" is said. He wants to fight the addiction even it is going to kill him. This song shows the power of such a strong addiction to cigarettes and makes for a very deep song to connect to if you want to relate to overcoming such an event. This was my take on it. Hope someone out there finds this useful. |
