| Depeche Mode – Breathe Lyrics | 10 years ago |

I don't think it's about Jesus as many said here. There are some biblical references in the names and in the days of the week, but Martin Gore likes playing with those references in most Depeche Mode's texts. Then, if really this song is about Jesus, why is Paul mentioned? He became christian after Jesus' death, he didn't know him at all. |

I think it's clearly about a feeling of regret about an old love story never happened. The protagonist never had (or he/she lost) a chance with his/her love, and now he don't even want to remember what he/she lost. Anyway, I can't undersand well the second verse. Thought you were blind, I held your hand Guess I still don't understand Maybe it means that thought his/her love can't see the protagonist's love, he/she tried to remain near to this person. Maybe the protagonist can't understand why he choose that, becouse it makes he/she feel bad. |

| Bedhead – the unpredictable landlord Lyrics | 11 years ago |

"This is the kind of place you wouldn't drag you mother into.. even though everyone's mother brought everyone here" Is it a reference to life in general? Like "Life (our world) is not a place where you'd take someone, but someone who loves you gave birth to you". If it is so, i think this is one of the most depressed song i ever heard... |

Great song, very gorgeous, but I can't understand its meaning at all. The text suggests me that it talks about a person who lives in a condition of oppression. Other people (a religious community maybe?) makes this person do things and play a role that he/she doesn't understand In my opinion the character could be the "She" in the second stanza or someone who knew her well. |

| Red House Painters – Things Mean A Lot Lyrics | 11 years ago |

These are the lyrics of "Rollercoaster", a song from the same album. The right lyrics are: a descending climb my feet can't make the hill to the top where your house hides tomorrow she comes the one who i've sworn and broke loyalty to take your place in the bed next to me you threaten to make me dead and none of this will matter or surface again scares you to know that we won't be watching the same sun or brooding the same thoughts in the same part of the world scares me how you get older how you forget about each other things mean a lot at the time don't mean nothing later I found them using Google. |

| Genesis – The Light Dies Down On Broadway Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Yes, The music of this song is a sort of fusion of two other songs of the same album: "The Lamb Lies Down On Broadway" and "The Lamia". | |
| Genesis – Evil Jam Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I read in an interview that Genesis' members called "Evil Jam" the instrumental piece "The Waiting Room" from "The Lamb". It's true? | |
| Genesis – Back in N.Y.C. Lyrics | 12 years ago |

The meaning of the verses are quite simple: are all memories of Rael's life in New York. I think the most interesting part of the song is the chorus and the porcupine's part. In my opinion the act of shaving his heart means that Rael tries to leave his emotion behind him in order to get accepted by his gang (for this he obtain the name of "electric razor"). The porcupine, who is a animal with spikes which doesn't let others attacking him, is a symbol of Rael's need of protection, which is archieved with the absence of emotions. Although, Rael is not satisfied of his new situation: in the chorus a voice repeat "No" at the line "when your fluffy heart is ready to rape", and in my opinion the meaning is that he feels this situation like a rape for himself, becouse he can't live without feelings. I think this song is deeply connected with the needing to find a group and adfirming himself in it, and it's the reason I love it so much. One more thing: I don't think Rael had never burnt something or raped someone like parberoo said. The rape mentioned in the chorus is, as I said before, only a metaphore, and the part "When I take out my bottle, filled up high with gasoline, You can tell by the night fires where Rael has been, has been." is referred with the habit of Rael of writing his name on the wall with a spray bottle, to make know his name (very poetic, in a strange way). There is a verse with almost the same words in the first song of the album. |

| Type O Negative – Der Untermensch Lyrics | 12 years ago |

Considerated the theme of the other songs of this album, I don't think Steele is angry against people on pubblic assistance becouse of racism or political reasons. I read that Steele wrote the lyrics of the album after the end of a relation. In the previous song (Unsuccessfully Coping etc...) it's obvious he should enormously depend on this relation. He is angry with the people of the song only becouse he is angry with himself and sees in them his own defect: dependence. References at drug addiction are also present and I think it's not casual. |
