I believe it is the 1000 men story only in the end, the protagonist succeeded and raised his lover from the dead. However, before they could live a happy life again, the police found them (because he's a mass murderer) and shot them both, sending her back to heaven and him down to hell, separating them forever. "One more night" is his, after bring so hard and finally having her back, screaming to just be happy with her for a little bit longer before they killed both of them. "And we'll love again, we'll laugh again, etc" is him clinging onto what's left of that dream of being happy again. "It's better off this way, so much better off this way, I can't clean the blood off the sheets in my bed" means "I've become a monster trying to bring you back, so maybe its best if we're separated."
So tragic. |
