In 1999, when the song was wrotten, there was a big eclipse of the sun. But also Nostradamus said that in 1999 ''the big king gonna go down from they sky'' or like that. Some people saw in this premonition UFO, some a big meteor, which gonna destroy our world. But mainly I'm gonna think, that STP meant aliens- that thay gonna make out maybe, people are so blind, ignoring possibility that we're not the only one in Space. And then will come the day, when with fear we gonna look at the flying saucers at the sky, holding with our hands, because we gonna feel that we all are humans and there are no borders between us...But why Eclipse? Maybe he first wrote music and gave a title ''Eclipse'', because he was thinking about the Sun Eclipse, but later he wrote this text about aliens and connected with Eclipse, because they fitted together. Or it's that , than humanity have...eclipse of minds :D |

The meaning is more simple- also we can think about madness of jealous lover, but really , ''Deep Red'' is a not so much known horror movie about psycho killer and so on, from the 70's. Song was inspired with this movie, because Groth was tose days a big fan of oldschool horrors. ;) |

I'm not joking, but everyone who knows that author is religious person, gonna guess that it's probably about devil's temptation :) The more ordinary explanation is about fight with old enemy...but isn't the Evil the old enemy of Good?
Anyway, pawn and chess makes me thinking about Bergman's movie ''Det Sjunde inseglet'', where the main character is playing chess with Death. Maybe it's the right way? |

The interpratation in meaning of life is for me a bit overcombinated :) This is simply way, when you fell in love with someone, but living together day by day, when both people are difficult, starts to be harder and harder , they gonna depart, but being apart they're still missing each other. After all, love conqueres all, and they're again together. :) |

14/88?!?! Man, I don't know if you know, but Stephan Groth, the main former of Apoptygma Berzerk, refused to join the army, because of his PACIFIST IDEOLOGY! Something here not fits in your interpretation :)
For me one of the mostly mystery lyrics of APOP. It can be in simply way, about someone who can't deal with growing up and joining modern, decadence world. |

I can really recomend songs covers of APOP. They're totally not following original versions, everything is made their own way...and sometimes Groth's interpretation is better than original, he have specific ability of showing emotion by the sound. :) |
