So I think I figured it out. The meaning behind the song is that he's tired of everyone (or maybe the government?) telling him what he has to do. He's poking fun at them telling him how to live, "Teach me how to breathe, I think I've forgotten." When he's saying "I am not a leader of men" he is saying to quit going after him because he's really nobody special. He's tired of being treated like a piece of crap simply for living. |

"I've founded my own cross" should be "I've fashioned my own cross" "Been clutched by its weight" --> "Been crushed by its weight" "There's no darker message, than turning your face" --> "There's no stronger message than dirt in your face." "I'll see you down the end of the road" --> "I've seen down the end of the road" |

| Easily my favorite song by Nickelback. My only problem is I really can't seem to put a finger on the meaning of the song. I know I should just shut up and enjoy the vocal blending of Chad and his back up, but I guess it would just put my mind at ease if I could have some what of an idea behind what this song means. Anyone? | |
