Although I agree with the Biblical reference, where the Romans threw Christians or other non-believers into pits filled with hungry lions, I see it as a normal comparison between Christianity - being depicted as weak and a bend-the-knee society - and the rest of society. Perhaps you could drag it back to the Bible, Lion and the Lamb. The Lion being the one who would obviously be seen as the stronger, but that's just my take. |
