@[adieuamant:53931] well except Marketa was the one who wanted to settle down/get married and Glen wasn't ready yet. Not to assume he didn't feel Marketa was the one for him, but he didn't want to stop touring as much as they were and have a settled home life. And this made Marketa feel uncertain. Well both of them probably had some degree of uncertainty. But about Glen not wanting to get married at the time, that is based off what they've both said in interviews. I agree on the feeling of the song though. I think it's definitely about finding someone hard to read and not knowing what they want. A lot of times miscommunication leads to doubt. Then not only one party but both parties will feel doubt and walk away from the situation instead of fighting to fix it. |

This song was played at a concert in July 2007 (see set list here: http://www.npr.org/2007/07/26/12100950/live-music-from-the-film-once), which is at least a year before they officially broke up, so while it's pretty obvious that Marketa's inspiration in writing it was her relationship with Glen (though both of them are credited as writing it), it's kind-of prophetic in that it was written so early on... I agree it's a great song, it sounds eerie and mysterious, but also warm and beautiful |
