| Brandi Carlile – That Wasn't Me Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| After listening to this song for the first time it was very clear to me the song is about addiction. My brother suffered from an addiction for majority of his life and only now has been 11 months sober. This song sounds like the words he would write. Beautiful lyrics, as usual. | |

This song could have so many meanings, as good writing should. This is my wedding song. For me this is the story of love. On the surface the lyrics seem so direct, but as with love they are sophisticated and complex in this story. When she sings, "So many stories of where I've been" it's as if she's mocking the people who think they know her life to be "oh so great". " It's true... I was made for you" So it's got to be fate if you're the one I've shared this much of myself with. " I crossed all the lines and I broke all the rules, But baby I broke them all for you" Completely let my guard down for you. I've broken every wall I've ever built to love you. Because " You made me feel like a million bucks. You do and I was made for you" I think last verse is about, not the worry of people not understanding you, but rather the worry of nobody loving you despite that. And she says again "I was made for you" meaning you love me and understand me. Which is one of the greatest feelings of love. Great to see so many comments for Brandi Carlile :) |
