I think this song is about a girl with depression. The man is her boyfriend and is trying to help her. ''the stairs creak as I sleep, it's keeping me awake'' could be a sign of insomnia from the thoughts going on in her head. ''some days I can't even trust myself'' could mean that she self harms or that she's suicidal. ''there's an old voice in my head that's holdin' me back'' could mean that she had voices in her head or that her thoughts are incredibly loud. ''soon it will be over and buried with our past'' is descibing how they will get through it in the end. ''we used to play outside when we were young, and full of life and full of love'' describes how life was so easy before and I would never have guessed it would be so hard. ''Some days I don't know if I am wrong or right'' is how her mind isn't made up. ''You're gone, gone, gone away, I watched you disappear All that's left is a ghost of you Now we're torn, torn, torn apart There's nothing we can do Just let me go, we'll meet again soon Now wait, wait, wait for me Please hang around I'll see you when I fall asleep'' That part is how the real her is slowly fading and the guy is having dreams about being with the original girl. She thinks it will be over soon but she isn't sure. But, she doesn't want to guy to worry, so she lies and says she's okay and that she'll be better soon. ''Though the truth may vary This ship will carry Our bodies safe to shore'' I'm honestly not sure about this bit... I think it's about how she'll be safe soon or something along those lines |

I think this song is about a break up. He's having to deal with the depression that increased when they stopped seeing eack other and it's almost as if he has no friends. I say increased because it seems as though he was getting bullied at first and when she left, it just made him lose all hope as shown below: ''Well some nights, I wish that this all would end 'Cause I could use some friends for a change,'' and I was never one to believe the hype, Save that for the black and white I try twice as hard and I'm half as liked, But here they come again to jack my style'' He's rebeling because her doesn't see the point in anything anymore: ''This is it, boys, this is war, what are we waiting for? Why don't we break the rules already?'' It's also making him doubt the relationship between his sister and her partner, which would explain: ''My heart is breaking for my sister and the con that she called "love",'' At the end of the song, it explains how he got over her: ''The other night, you wouldn't believe the dream I just had about you and me I called you up, but we'd both agree It's for the best you didn't listen It's for the best we get our distance, oh It's for the best you didn't listen It's for the best we get our distance, oh'' |
