| Simon and Garfunkel – The Sound of Silence Lyrics | 9 years ago |
| I've never posted or replied to any of these song meaning sites but I am compelled to thank *shiningdead* for hitting that nail right on the head. I could have never put into words what I knew this song was about. That's an old post but I've come here searching today because of the remake by Disturbed. I've heard it a few times on the radio (heavy metal type station) and wanted to see what it meant before I drew any conclusions of my own. Yes I believe that I am enlightened dear *shiningdead* I just knew this song had to be after or during war and probably during the hippy era. I was a baby then and only over the last 7 yrs or so started to understand the real meaning of well...everything and I can see why they'd re-make this song today. Wow. I never dreamed I'd feel so connected to Simon & Garfunkle lol. Sometimes I feel like I am the only one who really knows the truth about this world because there are no words for all that my mind has figured out lol How awesome is it that you could get all of that from a song? Then elaborate on it with your words to me. Now I just feel so blessed and amazed that I found this! Thank you so so much!! | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Bullet In The Head Lyrics | 12 years ago |

My favorite RAM song with such deep meaning and intelligent way of wording things til it's almost impossible to fully grasp the meaning of it all. Victims of the in house drive by are soldiers. The bullet in your head is the ignorance that we are taught and believe. I'm pretty sure it's about the Cold War when he speaks of the yellow ribbon instead of a swastika...that's my take because he says the bullet cold rocked ya. I could say more but I'll hush. lol It's awesome how so many folks get something different yet equally important out of every RAM song. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Know Your Enemy Lyrics | 12 years ago |

What? The land of the free? Whoever told you that is your enemy. Purely genius way of wording that. We're free yet we get enlisted to go to war. Still in a room without a view makes me think of a prison cell meaning we're still not really free and they're saying we should not be so quick to go along with what we're told to do and be by folks who clearly stand for Compromise Conformity Assimilation Submission Ignorance Hypocrisy Brutality The Elite All of which are American dreams. Maybe not yours but those are the things that keep us all in line and the corruption grows more and more. |

| Rage Against the Machine – Freedom Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I think 3 brothers gone would be Martin L King and Malcom X and President Kennedy. Those were the last ones who actually stood for the ppl and they got killed for it. That's what he means by did you forget your name? Those 3 men are the diagonal in the tic tac toe. There hasn't been anyone who actually stands for the ppl since. They want us to forget about all of that. Martin L King is the one who first said Anger is a gift. Zach whispers that toward the end of the song. It's very important that we never forget how they were murdered for trying to make good changes. What just kills me is how the government has the nerve to name a wing in every courtroom the Martin Luther King wing. They killed him! Then smooth it over by naming their courts after him. WTF! I think he's also talking about Leonard Pelzer and some injustice that happened in the 70s I believe toward the Indians who were already treated wrong to start with. I thank God for this band who is brave and smart enough to point out things that we should never get over and not put up with it again. The government is supposed to be for us. Not us for them. | |

I'd say you're right on. Thank you for the comment. Zack does use sophisticated English in all of his songs. lol Funny how most ppl don't hear what he's saying. It's awesome how he words things without coming out and saying it and they way you can feel it with the music once you know what the point is. They don't teach the truth about the Indians to kids in USA. I'm from GA. I'm 42yrs old. The schools were still became integrated when my sister went to middle school. She's 2yrs older than me. Yes I also admire the Polish for their bravery. What's so screwed up is the millions of "pollac" jokes we're told our whole lives. This is one racist country. It may appear different nowadays but it's not. It's still run by the same chosen whites who use our religious beliefs to their advantage. A country chosen by God yet they don't even believe in one. Zack is giving us a look through his eyes and I admire this band more than any other. I always wondered how this can be one nation under God when we stole it from the Indians. That goes against the 1st commandment. |

| Biffy Clyro – Killing in the Name Of (Rage Against the Machine cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I also have to add that RAM does speak of Jesus or God in many songs but they're not condeming Christ. They're making a point on how the government uses Jesus and our beliefs for their benefit. Those who are brutal or corrupt..who is it that they're killing in the name of? The government or the devil. To me they're the same thing. | |
| Biffy Clyro – Killing in the Name Of (Rage Against the Machine cover) Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| Yes it's about the KKK but not just that. There's so much more to it. This song came out not long after those cops got away with beating Rodney King. So it's about racism and police who abuse their powers and how they can get away with it because they wear a badge so he refers to them as the chosen whites. I'd say it's also about the military. How we justify the killing in wars etc...Killing in the name of...my own opinion here in any RAM song always is talking about the government. It's not that RAM hates every cop or political figure. It's that there are so many corrupt and so much corruption there til we just don't know...are the rules we obey for our good or is there something more to it? Something like that. | |
| Rage Against the Machine – Bulls on Parade Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| I'm impressed. I'd say you're right on. What a shame most folks just can't grasp just how deep the meanings to all RAM songs go. This band is sheer genius and there will never be another one who can compare. Thank you for this comment. It's the only accurate one I've read. | |
