They Might Be Giants – Kiss Me, Son Of God Lyrics 11 years ago
I can't believe I didn't pick this up immediately, but it just clicked after a few days: I just realized the song this song had to have gotten it's melody (which sounded super familiar) from, is that one that goes "I'm on top of the world, looking down on creation, and the only explanation I can find..." and the next bit works so well with the last part of this song's chorus...

It couldn't have been more appropriate.

They Might Be Giants – Brain Problem Situation Lyrics 11 years ago
They Might Be Giants (and probably especially Linnell) are great with Buffy Speak (Some other good examples being They'll Need A Crane and Someone Keeps Moving My Chair).

I think the snow scraper was buried by the snow, hence the direct irony/unsolvableness, and it would emerge in spring when the snow melts. I don't think it's underground.

They Might Be Giants – With The Dark Lyrics 12 years ago
I think it's about memories and loss, and focusing too much on those. To the point where you "love" that state of mind, or want the lost thing to still be there, regardless of functionality.

And if it gets bad enough, it can be destructive, and ruins your perception so you end up "leading the charge of the wrong" thing.

The last part, I think, mentions being more active/assertive about it, even though your life is still "out of control", to the point of killing everything new or current that you could move on with.

This song, I think, is about not wanting to ever leave your memories/loss feelings behind, because that could mean leaving the positive thing behind with them.

They Might Be Giants – I Palindrome I Lyrics 12 years ago
I think the dress might refer to the curtains in hospitals that can be drawn around the beds. Seeing it from the outside implies a desire to not be disturbed, so I think it means the mother is trying to keep him away.
Also, what with the name of the band, I can't help thinking the windmill bit might refer to paranoia that the narrator has about his kids killing him the way he killed his mother.
Other than that, I definitely see the Ouroboros thing, and that would be right at the core of the paranoia (like a hacker/thief keeping their money out of banks).

They Might Be Giants – My Evil Twin Lyrics 12 years ago
I'd say it's less like Fight Club and closer to Dexter. It seems less seperate, like just his bad side. I like the part with the evil twin running home again, but says "I'll" be home by then.
The song seems to focus on them being the same guy, like everyone's saying, but I think it's more about the narrator dissociating his own bad behaviour, and his friends know full well what he's really like, but he's sticking with the "who, me?" sort of innocence for his own sake.
It reminds me a lot of something with the character my screenname is from, where instead of reconciling something he did, he flat out denies it to a witness, going "True, he did it, but it just wasn't like him" (it is). I think that line sums up the general meaning of this song as well.

I think some or most of the blame might be his own.
