This song is just a metaphor about the good and evil within himself. The theme of this entire album "The Devil and God Are Raging Inside Me" is about ego, anger, denial, hypocrisy, loneliness, sadness, and so on. Basically it's about all the things either leading up to suicide or recovery. I think too many people take the poetry of his lyrics too literal, when God and Satan are only used as metaphors to describe highest of highs and lowest of lows. |

Why does every song have to be taken so literal? The entire theme of this album is the conflict of the good and bad within and all the emotions that follow. Metaphors and themes have been very prevalent in his lyrics in every single one of their songs. Like Play Crack the Sky relating a bad relationship to a sinking ship. |

This song is about how everything is connected and how letting negativity hold you down only hinders your ability to grow with everything that surrounds you. That no matter what happens the ability to spiral out and push through your own body and become fully enlightened is possible. Realizing that our minds evolution is a divine gift but staying humble in order to harness its full potential. Basically what is achieved through meditation/kundalini yoga. |
