the song is about martyrdom in general. people sacrificing themselves for a cause. its ok because you will be remembered(they'll hallow your name). the martyr thinks of himself as the deliverer, the patriot, the son. by dying he is "sending the tyrant to the rope." but by martyr, he means somebody committing suicide. its the one gun salute and the new independence day is the day you're free from the chains of life. "created in hatred, a noose for your neck" meaning that hating oneself has created the need to kill oneself. this song is about suicide. the martyrs are the people killing themselves, also the tyrants, because they hate themselves and believe they are doing good by dying. |
