I think this song was somehow supposed to reflect Justine's relationship with Suede's Brett Anderson and her thoughts on his lyrics. After she started seeing Damon Albarn from Blur, she still remained within the band for several months and this - for obvious reasons- upset Suede and especially her ex (Anderson). In retaliation to the situation he wrote songs with lyrics directing to his heartbreak: Pantomime Horse, My Insatiable One etc. So after Justine left and founded Elastica she wrote about her thoughts on some of Anderson's lyrics and how she felt that he had been cashing in on his - eventual - fame. ( which, here, is conveyed in Connection). or the story went something like that... |
