| "beat of the drum" merely depicts heart beat, your heart is allowing you to move on, also it reflects a beat of music. Your heart is like music, since music makes you move to the beat. You cannot relax, this person has become accustomed to this lifestyle and due to this they can not fulfill their dreams | |
| Dead Man's Bones – In The Room Where You Sleep Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| This witness perhaps has the ability to see the persons dream? And what they're truly afraid of. There is stark juxtaposition since your bedroom is meant to be comforting and safe, however it just depicts how our worries and fears aren't left, they're always there. Sleep is meant to evade it but of course in this case it doesn't. | |

This song is pertinent to this present society which we dwell upon, notably the young era of teenagers. The song is about adrenaline/power/not having control/wild/party/losing your spirit/changing for 'tonight'. "You're gonna lose your soul tonight" - "tonight" is rather immediate and "tonight" everything is going to unveil, "tonight" is in the evening, this is when it turns dark. The darkness of "tonight" is relevant towards losing your soul, the dark side of you is going to unveil. "You're gonna lose control" evidently, you're not in self control, thus a change in you. The children's choir adds to the adrenaline and power of the song: "i get up in the morning to the beat of the drum" suggest that adrenaline gets them going and determined to move on. "i get up in the morning, put my dreams away," suggests that it's a continual cycle, dreams are put on hold, suggesting the relaxing manner of "these" people of society, they're not taking life seriously, they're living young and making the most of it. |

"You're gonna lose your soul" refers to the youngsters of society whom are, seemingly, marginalized as "wild alcoholics" which in this case, it conforms to that. "You're gonna lose your soul" merely suggests changing in spirit, change in you, this is "tonight" - thus I assume they're dancing/drinking essentially going crazy and showing another side to them. "i get up in the morning to the beat of the drum" shows adrenaline and power to go on, evidently, young people continue their lifestyle, that's what keeps them going and persisting. "i get up in the morning, put my dreams away," The morning is another day, dreams are left behind and the night begins, hence "you're gonna lose your soul tonight" in connection to this, we assume that these people whom are labelled like this live life easily with no worries or hesitations, hence "put my dreams away" they're focusing on the present, rather than the future. They believe the current moment is important and they want to persist in that. |

When a human transforms into a werewolf, they're changing, as too, the person is changing in love. I have't wholly analyzed the song, but from the tittle, I assume that's the meaning. | |

It's how we prepare death and burial, in lyrics it appears surreal that we're buried "in the middle of the street." it's rather sympathetic to death, we're technically placed anywhere, humanity is becoming more and more revolutionized, ironically humans are becoming less and less the priority. "You should know, what's really going down, below." this indicates the dead, essentially we should be cognizant of the death and how they're treated. We should mourn them not forget them. The song is excessively negative and it does not praise death - "dressed in their best clothes" this scarcely juxtaposes with the other sector of the song, we're almost preparing the dead, for what? heaven/hell. It emerges that dead isn't mournful (anymore); however it's depicted in a different way, or is it looking at the other prospect of death? "rows and rows" suggest there are a myriad and they're merely forgotten. The only remains are their "bones" which is pointless, however they have left their imprint? "basement" "water" "pavement" we're thrown into places which we are besieged by everyday, they're literally thrown anywhere and everywhere. We walk along the pavement, we swim in the water and we use the basement to add additional things in - what's going under, is starkly juxtaposed on what's going up. They're continuing to live, whereas the dead are dead. Furthermore, "You should know, that the world was built on bones" is a pivotal sector of the song, it implies humans created the world, and ironically they're being put to death, additionally, the song is preparing us for death. We should know that death is always around the corner, seemingly we're omniscient. "You should know, for when down you go " It's referring to us, it's preparing us for death? When we're also plunged into the ground, we'll witness the dead. |
