This is my fave song and HU are my fave band for their awesome songs and the depth of their meanings (well not all songs but ya know what im talking about). "I will not die in the night but in the light Of the sun with the ashes Of this world in my lungs" Epic!! When they say "lets watch this city burn the world" and other stuff like this, it seems like burning the city will cause the world to burn too. It must be some city like was Berlin in the "cold war" between the US and Russia. Because what happened to Berlin happened to the world; so i guess its some important city in the USA. Maybe Washington, because its where the decisions are made; maybe LA cause thats where HU are from and they have more songs about it. If you know the songs "We are" and "Been to hell" you'll understand how LA destroys peoples lifes... And where the desire of burning this rotten city can come from. "This city looks so pretty" referrs to how pretty it seems at first look, and its ironical because of how ugly everything there is when you get to know it. The billions of people who die for a lost cause might be all those fallen in war.. Because the reason why war exists is never worth all the suffering it creates. "Take the pill, in god we trust Go and kill, god loves us" Also epic lyrics. Like in "now i pray to my nation destroyed under god", it seems like they want to express that god just watches without doing anything to help. Same topic as treated in "Paradise lost". I really like the song, but i wished the lyrics were correct. They are worse than my spelling -.-' Great band, great song <3 |

| Nightwish – Planet Hell Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Denying the lying A million children fighting For lives in strife For hope beyond the horizon Children are like a symbol for innocence for nightwish, but to make them fight is a terrible crime. Also the things they fight for are contradictions: life in strive and hope you cant reach cause its so far -.- and you still deny what is obvious, the war and fight and suffering and you pretend that everything is ok. A dead world A dark path Not even crossroads to choose from All the blood red Carpets before me Behold this fair creation of God! you cant choose what you do, there are no crossroads and stoff. you have to work over the blooded carpets, which point to the red carpets where the "good" people work on, the kings, presidents, actors and all the rich people which walk over blood. The last sentence is sarcastic and points at the beautiful that god created and what we did of it. or it is to hit those who take (their) god as a reason to destroy the world that god created -.- really intelligent. My only wish to leave behind All the days of the Earth This everyday hell of my kingdom come Why do you say its clear? its not that obvious why you want to leave this hell and bring another one o.O maybe the "hell of my kingdom" means the place where you go when you are death. so even hell is better than this place. The 1st rock thrown again Welcome to hell, little Saint Mother Gaia in slaughter Welcome to paradise, Soldier ages ago, people where "stoned", killed with stones (for exapmle if a not-married girl got pregnant, she was stoned). the first rock is thrown again, whih can also mean to start a war, but to destroy something and to start a kind of vicious circle with more and more violence. Obiwanobrien has a good point on that. You can choose if you are a saint or a soldier; a saint will suffer by seeing how wrong everything is. a soldier will do what he is made for: killing. this verse ironically shows what this world is: a paradise for soldiers. though, the point of view of fadetogrey is interesting: soldiers will die so they get to paradise. (in greek mythology, those who die in a fight will go to the elysium, the paradise.) And mother Gaia, the earth, OUR MOTHER, is beeing killed by us. My 1st cry never ending All life is to fear for life You fool, you wanderer You challenged the gods and lost dont say this stanza doesnt have any meaning, every word is important. "All life is to fear for life" = you have to fear life. fear in the meaning of HONORING it. (so dont kill.) im stil not sure how exactly this challenge to the gods is meant, but if you lost, you must be a fool, if you tried it without thinking of what would happen if you lost. Save yourself a penny for the ferryman Save yourself and let them suffer In hope In love This world ain't ready for The Ark see the "save yourself a penny... save yourself"-anaphora. like saving you a penny is like saving yourself and not caring for others. i like the idea stated somewhere in the comments of not risking your penny to help others, this could be the meaning. it also is true, like NemoAngel said, that rich peeps are getting along a lot better in this world. knowing the rules here, it would even make sense that with money you get to paradise and without you cant. the Ark is the arc that saved human, but it is not beeing positive (there are enough to save). it seems more like there is nobody worth saving. if it is the ark of convenant, this verse means that it is useless to send us some laws in how to behave cause nobody will follow. Save yourself a penny for the ferryman Save yourself and let them suffer In hope In love Mankind works in mysterious ways same as above. Mankind works in misterious ways= human contradict themselves with their princips and actions. they destroy the planet that feeds them -.- really strange. "Welcome down, to my Planet Hell" are the correct lyrics at the end. Its like, welcome to hell. enjoy. |

| Nightwish – Cadence of Her Last Breath Lyrics | 11 years ago |

Suicide-Love theory "why do i miss someone i never met" the someone he never met is Death "save one death for me" these two verses make clear for me that it is about suicide of him. i love the verse "and all the poetry in the world finally makes sense to me" poetry is about feelings, mainly about love. now he understood it. why does he want to die? "drink for beauty", what does that mean? like lalabunn i think that he wants a specific death. "the dark rain from her eye still falls" her tears are dark? maybe she is in fear. she wants to live "running for her life", "save one breath for me" but wait. she is running? from him? maybe in his love he harmed her or is going to harm her. maybe that is why he wants to die later. but she has not died. if this is about "her last breath", maybe he wants or is going to be present when she dies. because a butterfly is a "one-day miracle of life". it deosnt late long and he knows that she will die soon. maybe death doesnt mean the death of the flesh, but death of innocense or virginity or something else. maybe she will die after he chased her down and does whatever he wanted to from the beginning. maybe she is not running of him but of his love because she knows that love can hurt. Dream theory if it is all a dream, like i.love.NIGHTWISH said, that would make sense. the "why do i miss someone i never met before?" would mean that he fell in love with someone only existing in his dreams. thats why he lay "wih beated breath". "put to rest all thats not life" could mean that she is not real and he should forget her. and this dream inspired him as poet and filled his "blank page". Mixed theory maybe the suicide-love theory and the dream theory go together, so that the song means both. or the suicide version should be separed from the love version more like the version of Almagest. or its something in between... AngelicMoon said something about a boy that loves her and a serial killer. Maybe both are one person? i like that you invented a whole story, now take a look at it as if it is not real, but symbolical. lover and murderer in one person, fighting ahainst each other for the girl... or is this too abstract? XD sorry for my bad english and speling etc |

| Nightwish – Bless The Child Lyrics | 11 years ago |
| I have heared many Nightwish songs and I think that the child in everyone is their childhood and/or what is left of it. This person who is going to die soon: "as i drunk from the cup which was counting my time", "go[es] back in time to bless the child", it means that he is remembering his childhood or something like that. | |
| Nightwish – Beauty Of The Beast Lyrics | 11 years ago |

(interpretation written in I-form) When trees drop their leaves. And clouds their waters. What does that mean? Its fall! At the same time it means they throw their burdens away and feel lighter. I havent thrown away my burdens since fall. Distance is covering your way. Tears your memory. All this beauty is killing me. Cause I can see them, our beautiful memorys. The way we must go both to find each other again and you are not seeing it or not wanting to travel it because its too hard. I still feel for you! What should be lost is there. We are traveling on different ways now. It would be best if i didnt think of you anymore. I stil do. I fear I will never find anyone. I never will be able to find someone. Or just nobody falls in love with me, except you, but you are lost. Will we find each other in the dark? Everything drowned in the night, where you cant see, where you cant understand, where its actually impossible to find anyone -.- My long lost love... |

| Nightwish – Amaranth Lyrics | 12 years ago |

I have to correct myself, because the meaning doesnt have anything to do with believes, im sorry. "-Baptized with a perfect name- amaranth=flower=symbolic for never faiding. Was born perfect and perfectly innocent" actually, the name just fits amaranth perfectly. "-The doubting one by heart- this referrs to people who question what is stated" i got this one. tuomas thinks that doubt is good :) so, this angel, amaranth, doubts and wonders. it has to mean something but i dont know WHAT "-Alone without himself- your belief in god is part of yourself. If you dont have it or deny it, you dont have yourself" nope, this has to mean something else. stil not sure about it. but it seems logical to me that without himself he is alone. the question is, why doesnt he have himself? is this why he is wounded in the video? is it because theres so few innocense in the world, or his own innocense is wounded? (what cant be, hes never fading, maybe, like, representing the innocense in some way.) "-War between him and the day- day is light, seeing clearly. Its war because you dont want to see the truth" well i dont know if its this or not. maybe the truth hurts to much? "-Need someone to blame- you feel guilty" um well i think amaranth is guilty or feels guilty... (maybe because he lost himself??) no, he cant be guilty. in the end, hes innocent/innocense. but someone needs to be blamed for something "-In the end little he can do alone-" yes how could he do anything alone=without himself? "-You believe but what you see-" maybe this means that "you" need to see something to believe it because other people (for example) could tell something that is not true -->tuomas thinks that the truth is very important. (see: the crow, the owl and the dove) maybe it has to do with this? "-You receive but what you give- you get what you deserve" well this could be right?? i think i stil dont have it though "-Caress the one The never-fading Rain in your heart-" if the never-fading goes together with rain, it means endless sorrow. but the never fading is amaranth. is amaranth sorrow? i dont think so. if they go separated, it sais carress amaranth, and you have sorrow (sorry for my bad english). so caress amaranth because you are sad because, maybe, he doesnt have himself? "-The tears of snow-white sorrow-" okay so snow is a metaphor for innocense in many nightwish songs.and if the sorrow is innocent, this has to mean that actually its the sorrow of an innocent person, like amaranth. (or wait, maye never-faiding and rain DO go together, in that case, Amaranth would BE sorrow; which confuses my whole interpretation, i will think about that posibility later) "-Caress the one, The hiding Amaranth in a land of the daybreak- Amaranth is hiding in the land of the daybreak. Of clearness. You have to see clear to find Amaranth, the never faiding innocense." this is interesting. but why hiding? and what is with the war against the day? "-apart from the wandering pack- " this remains me of seven days to the wolves "take the road less traveled by" which made me think that the mainstream stuff is seldomly the right things to do. "-in this brief flight of time- life is short, you dont have that much time" yes but for what?? "-you reach for the ones who ever dare- you have to go with the people who dare to" dare to doubt? to wonder? is it this? "-reaching, searching, for something untouched- searching for innocense, for Amaranth" ill question the place of amaranth here, but innocense is right. "-hearing voices of the never faiding calling- " amaranth is calling. in the video, in this part of the song he wakes up. im stil not sure what it actually means but were getting closer i think :3 i will come back to look at this later and have new ideas maybe. and please comment on what you think, if you think that something doesnt fit in, tell me and i will try to find out more about it :) |

| Nightwish – Amaranth Lyrics | 12 years ago |
| no wait i think the relation between the innocense and immortality (never faiding, amaranth) is that amaranth has never faiding innocense ^^ he represents the innocense. | |

Just warning you, i talk a lot! -Baptized with a perfect name- amaranth=flower=symbolic for never faiding. Was born perfect and perfectly innocent -The doubting one by heart- this referrs to people who question what is stated by the society OR to people who lost their innocense because of questioning god. -Alone without himself- your belief in god is part of yourself. If you dont have it or deny it, you dont have yourself -War between him and the day- day is light, seeing clearly. Its war because you dont want to see the truth -Need someone to blame- you feel guilty bacause you dont believe/arent innocent and need to blame someone else -In the end little he can do alone- well denying yourself you wont reach anything. And you are alone without your beliefs. -You believe but what you see- again denying what you believe if theres no proof. Innocense would believe without a proof. -You receive but what you give- you get what you deserve, which is not much if you dont believe and arent innocent -Caress the one The never-fading Rain in your heart- the never faiding means amaranth. But never faiding rain means that there will be allways sorrow. Caress it because its part of you (in your heart) -The tears of snow-white sorrow- Only an innocent person can fell true sorrow. Or by ferling sorrow you get innocense. -Caress the one, The hiding Amaranth in a land of the daybreak- Amaranth is hiding in the land of the daybreak. Of clearness. You have to see clear to find Amaranth, the never faiding innocense. -apart from the wandering pack- people denying their beliefs (again). Dont wander with them. They are not innocent (of course) -in this brief flight of time- life is short, you dont have that much time to realize and reach innocense -you reach for the ones who ever dare- you have to go with the people who dare to believe, to hope and to search for innocense -reaching, searching, for something untouched- searching for innocense, for Amaranth -hearing voices of the never faiding calling- you must be really close if you can hear him/her. Follow the voice. I read most of the comments (just not the newer ones) and while i was writing i finnally undedrstood! ^^ the whole thing is about finding Amaranth who represents the everlasting innocense. (innocense will allways exist, thats why its never faiding) well its actually a mixture of innocense and your beliefs. Did you see it? Amaranth is the pure sorrow, innocense is the never faiding rain in your heart (im sure these go together). I actually want to put a giant question mark over the song and my interpretation. There is not the one meaning of the song. It has the one you give it and thats why i love nightwish so much! also sorry for my bad english im german |
