I think she is the "Queen of Peace" in that she's the one who's always trying to keep the peace in a relationship, but no matter what she does she can't seem to and the relationship starts or continues to unravel. |

This song is simply lovely. It makes me want to just get into my car and drive. I think it's about knowing that things and people in life are going to change and the uncertainty and unknowing of how things are going to turn out. At the same time, it has an optimistic and hopeful vibe to it. No matter what the outcome is, you'll be able to work through it and "begin again..." as the lyric echoes. |

"Quitting school and going to work and never going fishing." - After you graduate or quit school you're suppose to get a job and work. Usually when someone puts up a sign saying, "Gone fishin" it means they're taking a break from work. "Never going fishing" means never taking a break; continually working.
"Water all around, I never learned how to swim now" - School/college is suppose to prepare you for the future and what to expect; but when you actually get there you realize how unprepared you really are, and everything you were taught doesn't help you.
"If being wrong's a crime, I'm serving forever. If being strong's your kind, then I need help here with this feather. If being afraid is a crime, we hang side by side, at the swingin party down the line" - They are afraid of something (the future?) and maybe made some bad decisions that they're going to pay for. |

Its about two people who used to be really close or in love and drifted apart. But after a falling out or breakup, now they are like strangers to each other. They avoid each other and pretend they don't know each other.
"It's like the sun set in your eyes and never wanted to rise" - The warmth (sun) of whatever they had "set" and never came back.
I think in this song its talking about two people who used to be in love. But personally, I think of old friends I used to have who I never see or speak to anymore. And if by chance I do see them again, we act like strangers, even though we used to be really close. "I saw you again, it felt like we had never met." |

I love this song; its my personal favorite on her new album. Here's what I think it's talking about...
The world or reality is bad (explosions on tv, men on the news). People try to ignore it (girls with heads inside a dream) or pretend like everything is perfect. And sometimes you need to escape reality and the world we're living in and create your own world (make believe) where everything is good and you never want to leave.

Listening to this song never fails to cheer me up. I think its about not knowing what you're going to do in the future; having dreams or plans that don't always work out. But even when they don't, it's okay and eventually things will fall into place. "A box of rain will ease the pain." :) |
